Personal Injury Protection ("PIP" or "No-Fault")

According to the Florida Personal Injury No Fault law, if you own a motor vehicle with four or more wheels you must carry $10,000 of personal injury protection insurance (PIP) and a minimum of $10,000 of property damage liability insurance. You may have a deductible of up to $1,000 for PIP coverage and $500 for Property Damage Liability.

Personal injury protection (PIP) insurance covers you regardless of whether you cause an accident (are "at-fault") - up to the limits of the policy. PIP is designed to reduce the necessity of suing for reimbursement of medical and related bills from auto accidents.  As a courtesy the doctors within the JLS network will bill your auto accident insurance directly for you, regardless if the accident was your fault or the fault of another. PIP pays up to $10,000.00 minimum for personal injury and medical benefits. Still have questions? Call JLS now and speak to an expert!

  • 80% of reasonable medical expenses
  • 60 percent of lost wages
  • $5,000 for death benefits

For auto accidents that happen in Florida, PIP covers you and relatives who live in your home, certain passengers, and others who drive your car with your permission. Pedestrians and bicyclists are also covered if they are Florida residents. IF you do not own a vehicle in the State of Florida, and therefore are not required to carry PIP, you may be covered under a resident relative, or through the vehicle you were riding in. Still not sure where your PIP coverage should come from? Call JLS, and we will be happy to help answer any questions for you!

Did you know? If you are a pedestrian or bicyclist, and do not own a vehicle, and were hit by a vehicle, you may be covered for up to $10,000.00 in PIP and lost wage benefits?

Did you know? If you are working in or around your vehicle, ( for example changing a flat tire) and are injured, you may be covered for up to $10,000.00 in personal injury- and lost wage benefits.

For  auto accidents that happen outside Florida but inside the U.S. or Canada, PIP covers you and relatives who live in your home. In this case, you must be driving your own vehicle. Persons other than you or your relatives are not covered.
